- Take a lot of fluids:
Alcohol acts as a diuretic, which means that it causes frequent urination, which leads to dehydration. Following on, dehydration causes fatigue and weakness due to electrolyte depletion. Therefore, keep yourself adequately hydrated with water and fresh juices to minimize the after effects of alcohol abuse.
- Drink coffee or tea:
Coffee or tea contains caffeine, and they can prove to help get rid of grogginess, especially if you have to go to work the following day.
But be aware that both these drinks are diuretics and can exacerbate the problem of dehydration. Therefore, make sure that you keep yourself hydrated if you decide to get the caffeine kick.
- Take a pain reliever:
Pain relievers like ibuprofen and aspirin can help in curing headaches and other hangover pains in the body. But, do not take Tylenol as it can couple with remnants of alcohol in the body and further stress the liver.
- Have a drink:
As ridiculous as it may sound, but having a drink on the hangover day is found to reduce the hangover symptoms. There exists scientific evidence to back this cure as it is stated that drinking alcohol prevents the existing methanol’s conversion into toxic formaldehyde. Instead, methanol is excreted directly out of the system, which improves the symptoms of a hangover.
- Take Vitamin B6 Supplement:
Although there exists little empirical evidence to support this claim, a single study is often quoted, in which participants who took 1200 milligrams of vitamin B6, experienced less hangover symptoms. It is not as established a cure as others, but you can give it a shot if nothing else seems to work out.
