I want to let you in on a secret that can boost your sex drive and help you unleash your inner vixen, and spark more sexual satisfaction than you may ever have thought possible.
The secret has everything to do with what you put in your mouth. Okay, dirty bird ;), I’m talking about what foods you choose to eat and how you choose to fuel and nourish your body!
I’m not referring to specific foods that have an aphrodisiac effect… I’m talking about your diet and what you eat daily.
Eating a whole food plant-based diet could be the answer that will help you finally take your sex life to the next level.
When I think about sex drive, I think about the all-too-popular response when one partner approaches the other for sex and hears, “I’m not in the mood…” so let’s talk about mood first!
On a physiological level, the foods we consume affect our gut bacteria. Gut bacteria produce many of the active hormones of the brain that regulate mood. Gut bacteria depend on fiber, and all plants contain naturally occurring fiber. Animal products, on the other hand, do not. Therefore, eating more plants can lead to the body producing more mood-boosting hormones, including serotonin and oxytocin, resulting in a heightened mood.
On another note, it’s no wonder that so many people are not “in the mood,” given that most people don’t feel that well. Most people are overweight, overworked, and over-stressed.
When it comes to being overweight…
Eating a whole foods plant-based diet (WFPB) is the most effective and sustainable way to drop excess pounds. Unlike other diets, adopting a WFPB diet means giving your body the most bang for its caloric buck… Fueling your body with more nutrients per calorie you consume, and the result is massive increases in energy.
And what do you think happens when you’ve dropped weight and feel full of energy? You know it… You’re desire for sex increases!
Not only does your sex drive skyrocket, your physical ability to have phenomenal sex improves.
Erectile dysfunction (ED) affects as many as a third of all men over 40. Plant-based diets can help reverse this common affliction because, as Aaron Spitz, M.D Urologist and author of “The Penis Book,” explains, one of the primary causes of ED is restricted blood flow from the narrowing of arteries. In fact, ED is often an early warning for heart disease, according to JohnHopkinsMedicine.org…
Eating an omnivorous diet includes consuming artery-clogging dietary cholesterol. Meat, dairy, and eggs are the leading cause of our number one killer across the globe… cardiovascular disease, which is preventable by simply transitioning to a whole food plant-based diet.
The key may be as simple as trading in chicken and the blue pill for tofu and broccoli!
Next, and this may shock you, evidence suggests that vegans taste better®. That’s right, I trademarked the phrase after about 20 years of living my life as a sexually active vegan, collecting anecdotal evidence.
No shame here! Quite the opposite.
It makes perfect sense that what we eat impacts how we smell and taste. You’ve probably experienced firsthand what happens to the smell of your pee after eating a bunch of asparagus, for example.
The evidence goes beyond anecdotal, however. A 2006 study linking body odor to diet has shown that “people who avoid animal products smell ‘significantly’ better than those who don’t.” Annabelle Knight, a sex and relationship expert, says, “There’s evidence to suggest that men with diets rich in fresh fruits and vegetables have sweeter tasting sperm. The chlorophyll in foods like celery and parsley, for example, makes them a great choice. By contrast, red meat makes semen taste salty.”
Last, eating a diet full of beautiful, tasty plants means contributing to a healthier body for yourself and a healthier, more compassionate Planet. I firmly believe that making a positive impact in this world, in turn, allows us to experience more pleasure in our own lives on every level.
