Natural Remedies For Healthy Gums


Gums are the soft tissue that covers the jaw which surrounds the teeth. Hence, it is a vital part. Gum disease has become so common. Some of the common factors that can be a cause for the development of gum disease include addiction to tobacco, side effects of medicines, diabetes, ignorance of gum care, or it can be heredity too.

1. Oil Pulling

Oil pulling is a natural Ayurveda way to keep your guns healthy & away from all the teeth infections. The process of oil pulling involves swishing oil in between the teeth or around the mouth for about 15-20 minutes. Oil pulling reduces the buildup of plaque in the teeth. It also prevents spreading the gingivitis in the mouth. While oil pulling, it should be noted to use either coconut oil or sesame oil. You can perform this activity before brushing your teeth.

2. Turmeric gel

Turmeric is used as a home remedy to cure so many things for the last so many years. One of them is tooth infection. Turmeric is a natural cure for tooth infection. Their anti-inflammatory & antioxidant properties help to prevent the gingivitis & buildup of plaque. The curcumin present in turmeric helps the gum to stop bleeding. Turmeric is therapeutic & doesn’t have any side effects. Mix some mustard oil with turmeric & massage it over the gums.

3. Tea tree essential oil

Tea tree essential oil has been effective in aiding gingivitis. Also, it helps to prevent the bacterial attack on the mouth & the growth of oral diseases.

It should be noted very seriously that one shall not consume the undiluted tea tree oil as it can prove toxic for gum health. You can use this in the form of toothpaste. While choosing a toothpaste, don’t forget to check under the ingredients if the essential oil is present in it or not.

4. Neem

Neem is also a kind of natural remedy that has been used to cure so many diseases and disorders. Neem is also an Ayurveda remedy. It contains antibacterial properties that help to reduce plaque from the mouth & also reduces the inhibiting gingivitis. Neem can be used in the form of mouthwash as it clears all the buildup plaque effectively. It must be used regularly twice a day.

5. Cranberry juice

Cranberry contains phenolic acids & anthocyanin that helps the teeth & the gums to prevent from bacterial attack. Bacteria stick to the teeth & lead to thwart gum disease. Usage of cranberry can help to aid this disease as it has anti-microbial properties & contains some compound that helps to regulate inflammation. Cranberry is consumed in the form of juice, and it is readily available in the supermarkets. Always buy unsweetened cranberry juice for more effectiveness & consume it daily.

6. Saltwater

Salt can be beneficial to keep the gums healthy if used regularly. Salt is used as an antibacterial agent & has anti-inflammatory & antiseptic properties, which help to slow down the swelling & provides aid to the infection. It also helps to stops the bleeding gums. It is the fastest remedy to cure bleeding gums. Just add some salt to the warm water proportionately & rinse your mouth with it. Dot it for about 30 seconds, thrice a day for better results.

7. Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera has components that are equally effective as chlorhexidine, which helps to reduces plaque from the mouth & diminish gingivitis. Aloe Vera is one of the most effective ways to achieve the target of healthy gums. Aloe Vera gel is injected into the inflamed gums. It results in periodontal condition improvement. Also, it can be used as a mouthwash, but you need to make sure it is 100 percent pure, or else it won’t be diluted. 

8. Honey

Who doesn’t love honey? It is said that consumption of sweet things can damage the teeth & gums, but very few know the fact that honey also contains anti-bacterial & anti-inflammatory properties. It stops the bleeding of gums by killing the bacteria in the mouth. Take some raw honey & massage it on your gums regularly & you would feel the change.
