Health, wellbeing, and quality of life are all such important aspects of any given individual’s life. This is true regardless of who one is, what their lifestyle or circumstances happen to be, or where in the world they live. So, it comes as no surprise that living a healthy lifestyle is so incredibly important. For many individuals, prioritizing their health, wellbeing, and quality of life comes somewhat naturally to them. For others, it is an active and consistent work in progress. Either way, the prioritization of one’s health, well being, and quality of life should always be of the utmost importance. Living a healthy lifestyle is so incredibly important. Thankfully, more individuals are finally taking the time to actively prioritise self care. However, there is always room for improvement. So, what are the three points that make up this ever important trifecta of self care?
Of course, diet plays arguably the most important role of all. Human beings were quite literally designed and intended to be hunters, gatherers, and wanderers. So, we should always make a point to prioritise a healthy and balanced diet. Switching out full carb pasta for low carb pasta or taking on the organic diet are just a few ways that an individual can focus on prioritizing their diet. Realistic and sustainable action is of the utmost importance when navigating one’s approach to dietary intake. There is nothing wrong with treating oneself, however prioritizing a mostly healthy diet that is balanced is the best way to focus on diet in a way that is able to be more easily maintained. Diet directly impacts physical and mental health. In fact, it has the single biggest impact. So, above all else, diet is incredibly important, regardless of the dietary approach one takes.
There is also of course the value in active and consistent exercise. Exercise is all about taking the time to prioritize one of the aspects of humanity that is most natural for us – movement. Even just half an hour of exercise can make a world of difference in one’s health and wellbeing. In many cases, it is about finding the approach to exercise that works best for you and that is most easily and realistically maintained. For some people, it is daily cardio. For others, it is weight training. For others, it is being actively engaged in a sport. And for some, it is a combination of each approach to exercise. It does not necessarily matter which approach one takes to exercise. All that matters is that one is able to find the approach to exercise that is best suited to them. Everything else often follows.
More than ever, we are finally paying more attention to mental health. For so long, the collective stigma that spans the globe surrounding mental health has been one that has been plagued with negative association and the like. Finally, however, we are seeing and investing in a healthier and more sustainable approach to mental health. The active and consistent engagement with building a more positive approach to mental health is going hand in hand with the widespread rising awareness and understanding of the crucial role that mental health plays in overall health, wellbeing, and quality of life. And this is expected to be just the tip of the iceberg. The best of mental health is still yet to come.
